Hurricanes Irma and Michael were huge storms that affected many communities in Florida. Several organizations are partnering together in the repair and rebuilding of homes for those who do not have the means to recover without assistance. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance is coordinating volunteer housing through traditional PDA Host Sites and other facilities willing to accommodate teams.
The Senior will be going to Panama City, Florida for relief work. This will be light construction, yard work, and clean up efforts. We will fly out of Austin the morning of July 12th. The host church will have air mattresses, but you can bring whatever you want to sleep on and in. Remember, we are flying to this location, so try to pack light. We will fly back the afternoon of July 18th. Bring beach ware. We will be spending time on the beach, however, bring work cloths and closed toe shoes. We will have a full kitchen, his/hers showers and sleeping quarters. Feel free to bring some spending cash, but keep the total of cash on hand under $50. We don’t what a group traveling with a lot of cash.
This trip is for in-coming and out-going high school seniors. If you graduated in 2020 or will graduate in 2021, you are eligible for this mission trip. There is a $50 registration donation for this trip. All registrations need to be completed by February 23rd. The registration donation needs to turned into the church office by March 1st.
