This summer the youth will travel to Corpus Christi. We’ll volunteer with the Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) group for hurricane relief. WPC will be covering all expenses for youth and parent volunteers, including housing and meals. We’re expecting 15 – 20 youth and 4 adult volunteers, however, the more the merrier.
We’ll stay at the Parkway Presbyterian Church. The Church is offering air mattresses, cots, showers and a full kitchen. Our group will stay in their Youth Center with separate sleeping rooms for men and women, a central gathering area with a pool table, ping pong table, foosball, and cable TV. Adjoining the Youth Center is the Fellowship Hall that can be used for recreation (basketball) and a kitchen for meal preparation. Men’s and Women’s restrooms (both with showers) are on the opposite side of Fellowship Hall from the kitchen. They have a washer/dryer to clean clothes before returning home.
PDA will provide a dedicated local coordinator and we except job sites will range between light to heavy work depending on the groups experience and capabilities (example: cleaning, lawn work, painting, drywall, quick-turn projects).
The bus will leave Wimberley Presbyterian Church Sunday, June 24th following the 11:00 worship service. Saturday, June 30th the youth will relax on the Gulf beach then return home that evening, ETA 8:00 pm.
We are asking for 1 adult volunteer for every 4-5 youth. Please register as a youth or adult volunteer for the mission trip.
