Back to School Fiesta!

August 11th, 9am-noon

August means the school year is about to begin. School supplies are expensive and necessary for a successful beginning to the year. The Barnabas Connection is hosting Back To School Fiesta (B2SF) 2018, on August 11, from 9:00 AM to noon at Wimberley United Methodist Church. B2SF provides Wimberley students with new school supplies, shoes, and backpacks to ensure students begin the school year on the right foot.

Additionally the Lions give free eye screenings and local hairdressers provide free haircuts. Donation envelopes are available in Fellowship Hall to assist Barnabas with funding this project. A $15 donation provides a Payless Shoe gift card for a new pair of shoes. A $20 donation provides a student with a new backpack. A $30 donation provides school supplies.

If you would like to volunteer to help with Fiesta, please contact Johnna Dennis or Sally Pool.

The Outreach committee is happy to announce a new mission we are helping. It’s the MEYO programs affiliated with Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church in San Antonio. These programs were started by Lea Watson, who grew up in our church! She saw a need and found a way to fill it. It began as an after school program and now it’s a year-round program that includes PEACE PALS, House of Teens, and the Rivera/Martinez scholarship funds. It’s very impressive and we’re proud of the work she’s doing! If you want to see more information, please go to www.meyo.divineredeemersa.org.
