Deer Creek Pet Project

Do you have a pet who likes people? Deer Creek has many residents who love pets, so let’s bring them together on Wednesday, September 4, 6:00-7:00 p.m. We’ll meet in the living room at Deer Creek and invite residents to get to know us and our pets. The only requirements are that the pets be vaccinated and be on leashes or in cages. This will be the first in a series of ministries the Discipleship and Outreach committees have planned to serve the needs of Deer Creek residents and honor the elderly.

Visitor’s Sunday!

September 8 will be a special Sunday to welcome visitors to our worship service. If you have friends, neighbors or coworkers who may be looking for a church home, please invite them to come – or better yet, offer to pick them up. Remind them that we have fellowship after worship so that we as a congregation can meet and greet them.

Presbyterian Women

Our first meeting for 2019-20 is Sunday, September 8, 12:30-1:30 in the church library. All women of WPC are invited. We will be studying Love Carved in Stone, a Fresh Look at the Ten Commandments

To order a study book, please contact Pam Tannahill or the church office.

Taco Dinner

Let’s “Taco bout” Feeding the Hungry Children
Wednesday, September 11 at 6PM
We will be serving a Taco Dinner with all the fixings.
NO NEED TO BRING ANYTHING.

Just come and enjoy a meal with your church community.
Our speaker will be our own Christy Youens of the Fig Tree Ministry. She
will share about the children her ministry helps throughout the school year.
Many children in our community go home to no meals after school. We will
learn how we can help and how to support this ministry and the volunteer
opportunities there are.
Please join us. Share a meal. Get to know someone you don’t know.
“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with
the poor.” Proverbs 22:9

And speaking of food….

Youth Meal Auction!

Back by popular demand, we will soon have another beloved Meal Auction!
We’ve set our sights on Sunday, September 29th. A luncheon meal will
be provided by the youth as we auction off a wide variety of meal offers,
graciously donated by members of our congregation!
Here is how it works: members of our congregation rise to the occasion to
share their culinary and hosting skills, offering a meal at their home to their designated number of guests. (The time and date to be determined by the host and winning bid). The auction meal descriptions will be available for review prior to the auction. Groups can pool their money to bid on a meal, or an individual can purchase the meal and invite others to join in later to fill the guest slots. We welcome alternative meal offers…pie of the month/hot dogs by the pool/anything works! Get your creative chef hats on and join in on this fun opportunity of feast and fellowship! The proceeds will go towards our youth funds.
We are asking for meal donations!
Contact Christy Youens with any questions and your meal offers.

Thank you in advance!

Worship at Deer Creek

Sunday September 22 at 3:30 pm.

Join us for fun and fellowship as we sing hymns and share God’s word with the residents at Deer Creek. It’s a fun experience!

Deer Creek still in need

Deer Creek Needs…
Courtney Taylor, activities director at Deer Creek, is requesting the
following items:
 CD players or boom boxes for residents to listen to their music on CDs.
If you have one to donate, you may bring it to the church office or take it
to Deer Creek.
 A computer. Deer Creek currently has no desktop for residents to use.
If you have an old one you are not using, please consider donating. If
unable to transport, we can arrange a pick up from your house or office.
 Do you like to shop? Several residents would like someone to take
them shopping once a month to HEB, Target, Wal-Mart, etc. They
would, of course, have their own money and you would just need to
give them transportation.
If this is something that interests you, please contact Courtney at
512-847-5540, ext. 225.
