The Wimberley Presbyterian Church Annual Christmas Gift Market
Saturday, November 18, from 10:00 – 2:00pm
We will have vendors from various fair trade organizations such as 10,000 Villages, True Vineyard, SERRV, African Team Ministries, and The Quilt Guild will be selling their beautiful hand-made quilts! Additionally, you may make donations to organizations such as Barnabas, Crisis Bread Basket, Fig Tree and the Presbyterian Children’s Home to give as Christmas gifts to loved ones.
Please join us for this fun and worthwhile event. All proceeds go directly to the organizations.
We are looking for volunteers to set up on Friday, beginning at 1pm, or you can help at the event.
There are sign up sheets in the Fellowship Hall at the bulletin board, or you may contact:
Valerie Chandler at firstname.lastname@example.org
Our next potluck will be November 8 at 6:00 in the Fellowship Hall.
As we focus on the season of “Thanksgiving” we will have speakers from Crisis Bread Basket and Barnabas Christmas Store. They will explain their mission and share with us ways we can help. Please join us to show support for these special groups.
Also—we will have good fellowship and fun!
Suggestions for the potluck are:
A – I main dishes, J – O desserts and P – Z sides and salads.
BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND! Our November Monthly Activity is Paintball, so mark your calendars for Sunday, Nov. 12th! Gather after the service and be prepared for some competitive fun! Clay and Linda Corbitt are the volunteer sponsors for this!
Please note: Nov.22 is a WISD holiday, so no MBBS. Nov.29, MBBS is signed up to be hosts at the Yule Log at Emily Ann Theater… they can use other volunteers as well!
We continue to have an amazing response to the recycled can drive… Praise the Lord for Barbara Barks and this ministry!
Christmas Store Preparation Underway – Gifts Sought by
The Barnabas Connection will host the fourth annual Christmas Store in early December for families in need in Wimberley.
The goal is to provide Christmas assistance that builds dignity and allows local families to purchase Christmas gifts at a very low cost: new items will be marked at 75% or below retail. This project is based on a “Christmas Store” that has functioned successfully in Dallas, Texas for many years.
Ways you can help during the month of November – Please donate new items for the store by November 26:
household items like dishes, blankets and sheets, small heaters
toys, games, art supplies for children of all ages
sporting goods – like footballs, basketballs, bicycles and helmets
children’s socks and underwear, pajamas
small tools, caps and gloves
cash for us to shop for similar items. (Checks can be made to the Barnabas Connection and are tax-deductible.
Want to be involved in this new project? Contact email@example.com.
Our church contact is Betty Jo Slider firstname.lastname@example.org.
This Barnabas Connection project is in partnership with Cypress Creek Church, Unity Church of Wimberley, Wimberley Presbyterian Church, Wimberley UMC and Wimberley Rotary Club.
Participating families will be selected to participate from completed applications that are being distributed through Prek-3rd grade and area helping agencies. Chosen families will be invited to spend up to $35 during their shopping experience. We hope to be able to provide an assortment of household items, toys, games, bicycles, clothes, etc. to choose from. Individuals selected to shop will not be required to spend the total amount and will be encouraged to purchase items they want for the people they want to shop for.
